Draupadi Murmu

There is a few things you must know about India’s president, Draupadi Murmu. She elected and appointed as the 15th president of India.

Draupadi Murmu is a Tribal woman from the Santal community. She was born on 20 June 1958 at Uparbeda Village, Rairangpur in Odisha. She is an art graduate from Rama Devi Women’s College, Bhubaneswar.

She started as a school teacher, worked as a clerk at Irrigation Department of Odisha and joined BJP in 1997.

Important points about Draupadi Murmu

First, she is the first tribal politician, who elected as president of India. She is the first person from Odisha state to occupy this post. She is first individual to hav born after India’s independence in 1947; who has elected to the post of President of India.

Draupadi Murmu, the first woman governor of Jharkhand state appointed on 18 May 2015. Draupadi is the first woman from her village to leave Bhubanshwar to earn a college degree.

She is the youngest president of India at the age of 64 years 46 days. Draupadi is the second woman president of India after Pratiba patel.

In 1997, elected as councillor became vice-chair person of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat, 2000 to 2009, two-time BJP MLA from Rairangpur constituency.

2000 to 2004, minister in Navin Patnai government, 2006 to 2009, president of BJP’s Shedul tribe, in Odisha.
