Give thanks to God

“And always give thanks to God the Father for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

Disruptions in daily life are not uncommon. Sometimes you can spend a day as you talk.

There are many ways to avoid these things.. Our plans are repeatedly thwarted by influences beyond our control.

The list is long and ever-changing: illness, disputes, traffic jams, forgetfulness, faultless tools, rude behavior, laziness, impatience, incompetence, and so on.

Give thanks to God

However, what we cannot see is the opposite side of the barrier. I think it has no other purpose than to make life very difficult, and frustrate our plans.

In any case, such obstacles may be God’s means of protection from unseen danger, or they may be an opportunity to demonstrate God’s grace and forgiveness.

Give thanks to God

It may be the beginning of something better than the scheme we have prepared. Or it could be a test to see how we respond in times of trouble. However, even if we do not know God’s purpose, we can be sure that he intends to prepare us to be like Jesus and to advance his Kingdom on earth.

To say that God’s servants have been in trouble throughout history is to underestimate the importance of God’s undeserved kindness. But God has a purpose.

We can give thanks to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that he has given us an opportunity to buy the good times. (Ephesians 5:16,20).

Today’s thought

What happens to us does not matter what God does to us and through us.

PRAYER

O Lord, give us grace and wisdom to give thanks to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for all things in our lives. Amen.
