Light in the darkness
The prophet Micah lived in an uncertain and critical time in a city about 20 miles; southwest of Jerusalem. At that time the Assyrians had captured Samaria, the capital of Israel, and were threatening Jerusalem.
King Ahaz’s reign was shaky, and idol worship was rampant among the Israelites. The whole scene was chaotic and its future was bleak. Despite the darkness, Micah saw light ahead.
Overcoming all these obstacles, he was able to attract peace and strength by trusting in God to help his people. He knew that God would hear his prayers and that the future would be bright.
Light in the darkness
Today, we too live in a chaotic and rapidly changing world. Traditional values are apparently outdated and the search for new ones has left us vulnerable. These problems are unemployment, greed, corruption, oppression and treason. Everyone is confused and defeated. Life has become as meaningless as trying to succeed in competition. Many of us desire to be satisfied with the things of this world; However, I get no answer to this either.
